Tourist Activity in Thousand Islands is Gradually Recovering

Despite it shows improvement, visitors must implement health protocols

Thousand Islands Regency recorded a slight weekly increase in local and foreign tourist visits in October during the transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) after a sharp drop in the previous weeks.

Puji Astuti, Sub-division Head of Thousand Islands Tourism and Creative Economy disclosed, this weekend, the number of tourists coming reached 2,806 people compared to last weekend, which only reached 2,261.

"Despite it shows improvement, visitors must implement health protocols," she expressed, Monday (10/26).

She explained most tourists arrived from piers of Marina, Kaliadem, Tanjung Pasir and Rawasaban.

"They are required to undergo strict health protocols that are supervised by joint officers from the departure to the arrival pier in Thousand Islands," she explained.

She was optimistic that its number would increase continuously.

"We want the tourism sector to move, the economy to improve and everyone to have a healthy vacation, safe from the spread of COVID-19," she stated.
